Role of the Official Wholesaler
The Official Wholesaler for the Forest of Reading® is intricately involved in all stages of the program. They act as an extension of the program staff and their involvement begins with the submissions of books right to when the Award is given. They work closely with Publishers to get eligible books to the Selection Committee members across the province for consideration. They deliver hundreds of books to committee members throughout the year and manage all of the routing of materials.
The Official Wholesaler supports the Forest of Reading® Programs in a number of ways, including almost $100K in cash, in kind, posters and staff-time to assist the program to run. They also assist with enforcing the brand of the Forest of Reading® and have worked hard to help with satellite celebrations around the province. Without the Official Wholesaler, the Forest of Reading® would simply not be available to schools and libraries across Ontario.
Who is the official vendor of the Forest of Reading®?
S&B BOOKS, a division of Whitehots Inc., is currently is the successful bidder of the tender for the Forest of Reading®. They are designated the Official Vendor for the program years of 2010 to 2013. It is a 3-year contract, that was awarded after an open RFP process, that was conducted in the Spring and Summer of 2010 when five Canadian firms submitted bids.
