FRIENDS OF THE YEAR AWARD

NOMINATION INFORMATION

Submission Deadline is March 15, 2015

The Gabriele Schreiber "Friends of the Year" Award is given to a Friends of a Library group for outstanding support to its library and for outstanding volunteer involvement. Outstanding support for the library is demonstrated by ways in which the group has supported existing or new library programs or services and promoted awareness of its library. Outstanding volunteer involvement is measured by the total number of Friends’ volunteers actively involved in programs or fundraising projects and whether this number has increased as a result of them.

Choosing an award recipient is never an easy task because every entry comes from an organization that has worked extremely hard on behalf of its library. The stories, projects and efforts often vary greatly and can cover large urban organizations or small, struggling ones. For this reason, applications are compared from small, medium and large-sized Friends groups depending on the amount of revenue generated within one year.

Please note that no one on the FOCAL Board or Awards committee can submit an application for this award.

Each of the three successful Friends groups, one in each category, will win $750 worth of books from Random House Publishing for their library, and receive a plaque in recognition of the award.

Please submit your application, as attached, by email to:

Jocelyn MacNiel, Chair of the Gabriele Schreiber Awards Committee   macniel@telus.net

The Award(s) will be announced at the FOCAL Annual General Meeting April 2015 with the winners and respective libraries.
