The Community-Led Think Tank is held every one or two years. The program is developed by OPLA's Community Led Committee and explores a different theme at each event. The community-led approach to libraries aims to create a library for the people, by the people. This event is a full day of collaborating, networking and learning about this approach to librarianship.

OPLA’s Community-Led Libraries Think Tank is for you whether you are just getting started with a community-led library approach or you’ve already embraced the concept. The day features an opportunity to discuss themes and issues related to community-led in small groups, to share ideas and best practices and to hear from experts in the field. This year's theme is Mindful Communities.

Getting There


From the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel (on foot):
Upon exiting the hotel, turn right (West – against the one way traffic) and proceed to the first lights. Once across the road, enter Citi Plaza (adjacent to the CIBC branch). Proceed to the centre fountain area, London Public Library is on the right – proceed down the passageway. The Stevenson & Hunt Meeting rooms are located in the reception area on the left side, half-way down the passageway.

From the 401 (to parking):
Exit highway 401 onto Wellington Road North (Exit 186). Continue to downtown London (approximately 9kms). Turn left (West) onto York Street (immediately after the RR underpass). Proceed to the first lights and turn right (North) onto Clarence Street. At the next lights (King Street – one way), turn right (East) and veer immediately left into the underground parking lot entrance, on the left side of the road (North). Once parked, proceed to the stairs or elevator and proceed to the Ground Floor to the Citi Plaza centre fountain area. London Public Library is directly ahead - proceed down the passageway. The Stevenson & Hunt Meeting rooms are located in the reception area on the left side, half-way down the passageway.

Parking tickets can be validated at the LPL Circulation desk for 2 hours of complimentary parking.

Directions to the 401:
Once out of the parking garage, travel down King Street (One way) and turn right (South) at the first lights, and proceed to the 401.

From north of London(to parking):
Travel South on Highway 4 (Richmond Street) into downtown London. Turn left (East) on Central Avenue (Large Park on left) and then first right (South) on Wellington Street. Proceed down Wellington Street and turn right (West) onto York Street (prior to the RR underpass). Proceed to the first lights and turn right (North) onto Clarence Street. At the next lights (King Street – one way), turn right (East) and veer immediately left into the underground parking lot entrance, on the left side of the road (North). Cancellation Policy

Registrations will be reimbursed at 75% until 30 days prior to the event; 50% until 15 days prior and will not be reimbursed at all within 14 days of the event.
