Forest of Reading News
Introducing the Forest of Reading's Newest Tree: the Yellow Cedar Award!
We are excited to announce a new addition to the Forest of Reading!
We are consolidating our two school-aged non-fiction programs, the Silver Birch Non-Fiction Award and the Red Maple Non-Fiction Award, into one award program - the Yellow Cedar Award!
Details of the new award programs are as follows:
A curated list of 10 non-fiction titles
The list will targeted for Grade 5-8 (Silver Birch Express does have 5 Non-Fiction titles as part of their list geared at Grade 3-4 or the reluctant reader in grade 5-6).
This Award will be given at the annual Festival of Trees in Toronto every May.
The nominated titles will be announced with the other school-aged programs in October.
This award will replace the Silver Birch Non-Fiction and Red Maple Non-Fiction lists.
More details will be announced over the summer.
