ONLibChat: Return To the Library Space: What's Your Scenario

ONLibChat: Return To the Library Space: What's Your Scenario

Date & Time:

Thursday, July 9, 3:30-5pm

Canadian academic libraries have always been on the forefront of digital transformation and innovative adoption of technology advancements to support teaching, learning and research. This well positioned university libraries to adapt expediently to the situation created by the COVID 19 pandemic and to maximize the delivery of virtual services and electronic resources. At the same time, we had to close our physical facilities to ensure health and safety of our users and staff. This period of library closures emphasized the importance of the physical library, its space and material collections for the communities we serve. This AILP conversation focuses on how Canadian university libraries across provinces are preparing for gradual re-opening of library facilities by doing detailed scenario planning for resuming core services and returning to the space. There are many variations depending on the provincial, municipal and university health and safely guidelines and directives, and there are differences in how university libraries are approaching gradual resumption of the services onsite. Please join a panel of University Library leaders from Ontario, Quebec, British Columbia and Alberta to share these perspectives from different provinces and universities.
